The mercury hit new highs in Newark, 89 degrees, and Trenton, 86, according to the National Weather Service.
Temperatures also broke records at LaGuardia airport (86) and in Islip, N.Y., (82), according to the weather service.
It's also 87 in Jackson and Piscataway and 86 in Howell, Eatontown, Berkeley and Farmingdale, according to the New Jersey Weather and Climate Network.
Records also were tied or broken on Wednesday.
